SHOULDHAM FOOTBALL CLUB

Newsletter May 2013

Dear Parents/Carers

As the season draws to a close, we thought an update would be useful with details of end of season events and details of next season.

Before that – great news – we have achieved FA Chartered Status, which gives us access to extra training opportunities, funding and support.  You will see the FA Chartered Standard Certificate proudly on display in the Club House.  Many thanks especially to Geoff Couzins for his efforts in taking the lead on our successful application.

Teams.  Next year we will increase the number of teams from 6 to 8 plus a ‘nursery’ team.  This again is great news and is a sign of the on-going success and expansion of the Club.  For the 2013/14 season, we have players and coaches for:

Nursery Team (these are the younger players (Year 1 and below) who will train with U-7’s and will not be in the League)

Under 7’s, 8’s, 9’s, 10’s, 11’s, 12’s, 13’s, 14’s – the 8 teams in Mid-Norfolk Youth League.

Whilst we have just enough players to form a team in many of these age groups, we do need more!! Please, if your children have friends who want to learn to play football and have fun, then please encourage them to come along.  The Club ethos is that, providing they attend training, all players will get to play games, whatever their skill level – we aim to improve the standard of all players and not just make the most skilful players more skilful.  Most of all we want the players to have fun and enjoy being a member of a team.

Managers and Coaches.  We are always after managers and coaches to help out the existing volunteers.  The more coaches per team the more chance training can happen when other coaches are away (full coach training will be given and paid for if necessary).  If you are regularly watching your child train and play then why not volunteer to help out….even if it just helping set the pitch out for a match, it really would help. The Club relies on your help – without it all jobs fall on the few that regularly volunteer – the more volunteers, the more the workload can be spread.

Helpers.  Helpers are needed across all age groups for various small tasks, especially helping with BBQ and shop. This is a vital source of income for the Club, and without the valiant efforts of current shop helpers, subs would increase.  Again, please, please, please can we have some more people volunteer to help Anne Goodenough out to run the shop and BBQ.

Presentation Day.  The Presentation Day will be on Sunday July 21st, and will run from 12pm to 3pm.  All players will have a game with football activities going on in background to keep them occupied. The trophies will then be presented to players at approx. 2pm. Please bring normal match kit along with a change of clothes so that kit can be taken in, washed and assessed for condition to see if any needs replacing

Annual General Meeting.  The AGM will take place on the 18th June in Chalk and Cheese at 7.30pm – all welcome.

And Finally…..If you have any recommendations on how we can improve the Club, please let any of the Committee or managers know.  Many thanks for your on-going support and commitment to ensuring Shouldham FC remains an enjoyable Club to be associated to.
